Tournament Champion's Technical Analysis
As a Beyblade veteran, HellsScythe 4-80LF is one of the most interesting Attack configurations in the early Beyblade X meta. The HellsScythe blade is a paradox — officially classified as a Balance Type blade, it's actually among the heaviest non-Attack blades released, with exceptional raw Stamina that has made it a tournament staple since September 2023. Pairing it with the Low Flat bit transforms this heavy blade into an aggressive attacker that may trigger the Xtreme Dash gimmick. The Gear Chip features a flaming skull representing the Grim Reaper, and the blade's four-sided round design creates a unique combination of weight, Stamina, and recoil that has led to frequent top placements in competitive tournaments worldwide.
⚔️ Component Breakdown
Blade — HellsScythe
A round four-sided blade with four blades acting as the main contact points, featuring a Gear Chip depicting a flaming skull of the Grim Reaper. HellsScythe is among the heaviest non-Attack Type blades released and has excellent raw Stamina despite its round shape. Its high performance and relatively low skill floor has led to frequent top placements in tournaments since release. However, the gaps between its four blades create high recoil, giving it low Knockout Defense — though this recoil can also knock back attackers into the Over or Xtreme Zones. Units produced from June 2025 onward feature a reinforced mold with four square plastic tabs on the underside, reducing imbalance and adding about 1 gram of weight.
Ratchet — 4-80
The 4-80 ratchet features 4 identical protrusions at an 8.0 millimetre height. This mid-height configuration provides solid stability for the heavy HellsScythe blade, keeping the centre of gravity balanced. The four protrusions offer moderate coverage against incoming attacks while maintaining even weight distribution.
Bit — Low Flat (LF)
🏆 Competitive Build Strategy
Strengths
- ✓ Heaviest non-Attack blade - HellsScythe's weight gives devastating impact force on contact
- ✓ Xtreme Dash capable - Low Flat bit's aggressive movement makes it easy to trigger the X-Celerator Rail
- ✓ Low skill floor - Performs well even for beginners, making it tournament-viable immediately
- ✓ Anti-Attack capability - HellsScythe's small amount of Smash Attack can knock back aggressive opponents

🎓 Beginner to Champion Path
Week 1-2: Getting Started
Launch HellsScythe 4-80LF with strong, flat launches aimed toward the Xtreme Line. The Low Flat bit creates aggressive movement — don't fight it, use it. Practice triggering the Xtreme Dash by launching at angles that send the combo toward the X-Celerator Rail. Expect the combo to move fast and hit hard.
Week 3-4: Building Skills
Learn to control the aggression. Practice launching at different power levels — a softer launch keeps HellsScythe closer to centre for better Stamina, while a hard launch maximises attack potential. Experiment with launch timing against different opponents to find the optimal moment to strike.
Week 5+: Tournament Ready
In tournament play, HellsScythe 4-80LF is your aggressive opener. Use it against opponents you want to overwhelm early. Consider swapping the HellsScythe blade onto Stamina setups (like 3-80B) for a completely different playstyle — the blade's versatility is its greatest competitive asset. Keep spare Low Flat bits in your tournament kit as they are may experience wear.
